DESCRIPTION:This casual QRP CW event consists of ‘Bumblebees’ (BBs) who are operating portable stations at outdoor locations\, and ‘Home Stations’ (and other ‘Bumblebees’) who try to work as many of these portable ‘Bumblebees’ as possible.Originally considered as a replacement for the annual July FOBB\, this Fall FOBB was added as a second FOBB event instead. Most areas should have much more moderate weather in September for setting up their portable outdoor station. \nThe Summer FOBB in July had a few more BB signups. But a lot cancelled due to the high July temperature. BB Signups for this cooler September FOBB have not exceeded that count yet. The short notice and/or other priorities for this new September date might have kept some away. \nHowever\, we do have Bumblebees from 39 SPCs signed up so far. We already have more than enough BB coverage to make this New Fall FOBB a great QRP CW event. There is always room for more to join us – as a BB\, or from a home station. \nYou can see where all of the Bumblebees are located by checking the reports that are available at https://ars-qrp.com. (If you have forgotten your BB Number\, you can find it there). \nThis event is open to all QRP CW operators. Anywhere. Operators who want to go out and setup a portable station at some outdoor location\, and be a highly sought after ‘Bumblebee’\, will need to obtain a “Bumblebee Number”. \nIt is very simple to obtain a Bumblebee Number. There is still plenty of time left for you to get a BB Number. SUMMARY:Field trip for September Tech Wednesday
DESCRIPTION:The original date and time of this field trip has been scrubbed due to water-logged ground conditions at the destination.\nThe trip will be rescheduled.\n \nTech Wednesday program for September will be a field trip to the WMBS transmitter site\, off of State Route 857 in Georges Township. We will independently arrive. Once you see the two towers and the transmitter building\, the driveway will be easy to find.  Coordinates : 39.85919 N\, -79.74471 W \nThe expected conversation will be with two engineers to learn about the station’s AM and FM transmitters. As well as the details of using a tower as an antenna\, making a signal directional or omnidirectional\, the importance of proper grounding\, and how everything can be controlled and monitored remotely.  Plus much if you can believe it\, much more. \nOur visit is scheduled to begin at 6:00 PM on September 24th.
